About h2o

H2O was founded in 2002 by Natalie Magdeburger as a spin off from the Bel Air Recreation FH Program. Her goal was simple: she wanted to provide opportunities for young girls to play field hockey year-round and grow and develop the field hockey talent in Harford County. What started as a one team program quickly grew into 4 age divisions with 2 teams in each age group.

For 8 years Natalie built the H2O program on the foundation of what she called “The Triangle of Trust”. "Trust your teammates; Trust your coaches; Trust yourself", she would always say. She also coined the phrase “One team. One goal. H2O!” which can still be heard in team cheers across our age groups.

In 2010 when Natalie decided to back a step back, she entrusted the future of the club to Janice Rhodes. Janice had been a Junior College All-American, and Towson field hockey alumni prior to playing with the local BFHA adult hockey club for years. With her knowledge and passion for the sport at the forefront, Janice took over the program when her twin daughters, Sabrina and Sydney Rhodes, were just entering the U12 division. Since then, the organization has tried to maintain the guiding principles Natalie established when she founded this great club we call H2O!

H2O has grown significantly over the years; both in talent and in depth. H2O has sustained continuous success with dozens of gold medals from national and regional tournaments such as the National Indoor Tournament (NIT), the Regional Club Championships (RCCs), Shooting Stars, and Disney Showcase championships. These results show our tradition of strong indoor and outdoor teams, while we continuously and aggressively expand our offerings to include year-round training and competition programs.
